Pentecost Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Tongues of fire rested on each disciple. They were filled with Your Spirit and began to speak as You gave them words. The crowd heard the good news in their own languages. Peter preached. Three thousand people were added that day. The church was born.
At Babel, languages divided the human family. At Pentecost, Your Spirit gathered them again under one good news. You are the God who makes one people out of many.
Pour out Your Spirit again on the church in our generation. The same fire that fell on the first disciples can fall on us. The same boldness Peter received is the boldness You give to me. You still bring people into Your kingdom, and You can do it again.
Send the wind. Send the fire. Fill me with Your Spirit. Make me one of Your disciples, ready to speak and ready to serve.
Amen.
