Paul’s Missionary Journeys Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Spirit spoke through the prophets at Antioch and set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work You called them to. Two men obeyed, and the gospel left Jerusalem and reached the nations. Paul founded churches, wrote letters, suffered shipwrecks and beatings, and ended his life as a prisoner for Your name. That small sending from one church grew into the church we now know today. Father, send out Pauls and Barnabases from our generation. Set apart the ones You have called. Send them across cultures that have never heard of them. Sustain them through the hardship. Bless the churches that pray, give, and support the work — make them faithful senders. And make me a faithful participant in whatever role You call me to, whether going or sending. The harvest is still plentiful. The labourers are still few. Raise them up, Lord. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

    Acts 13:2
  2. Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
