Nicodemus And Being Born Again Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You told Nicodemus he must be born again. He came to You at night. He had questions. He had status. But he did not yet have the one thing he needed — a heart ready to start over. You did not turn him away. You met him in the dark and spoke new life to him. Father, there are people right now who are still coming to You at night. They are not ready to come out in the open. They are not sure they belong. Please let them know they may come. Receive them. Walk them through their questions slowly, just as You walked with Nicodemus. By the end of John’s Gospel, Nicodemus brought spices for Your burial. The secret visitor became a public follower. Begin that same long, quiet change in those who are still in the night. Amen.

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
