Matthias Replaces Judas Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, sometimes the calling is to fill the place quietly, without becoming a celebrity. Matthias took the seat that no one wrote a book about. He filled the gap so the work could go on. Make me a Matthias in the right context. The quiet seat among the twelve. The role no one will sing about. The work that continues because someone faithful showed up. I do not need to be a Peter or a Paul. The seat needed filling, and You chose me to sit in it. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
