Manna And Quail Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, when the people of Israel saw the bread from heaven on the ground like frost, they did not know what it was. You told them to gather enough for the day, no more. Anyone who tried to keep extra found it full of worms by morning. That was Your daily provision, and the daily was the discipline. You did not give them a week's worth at once. You gave them today's. Jesus later taught His disciples to pray, Give us this day our daily bread, drawing on this very pattern. Cure my need to hoard. The grace You give today is enough for today. The grace I will need tomorrow will arrive tomorrow. Stop me from trying to stockpile what You mean to give fresh each morning. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
