Lord’s Prayer Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father in heaven, Your name is holy. Let Your kingdom come. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive those who owe us. Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from evil. Father, You taught us to start with You, not with ourselves. The first words should be about Your name, Your kingdom, Your will. Only then do we bring our own needs. Forgive me when I rush to my own requests and forget to praise You. Teach me to pray the way Jesus taught us. Let my prayers begin where His began: with You. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
