Last Supper Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You said, 'This is my body, which is given for You. Do this in remembrance of me.' That night, the Passover meal was made new. The bread was broken. The cup was poured. The new covenant was made real in Your blood.
Lord Jesus, Your church has kept this supper ever since, week after week, and its meaning is never used up. The body broken. The blood shed. The covenant made new. Help me remember not as something far away, but as a real coming to the table where You are the host.
Father, this supper has sometimes become routine for me. Bring back the wonder. The bread is real bread. The cup is a real cup. The meaning is the death of Your Son for the life of the world.
When I come to the table next, give me eyes to see what I am receiving and whose people I belong to. Let this remembrance renew Your covenant in me. Hold me at the table.
Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
