Josephs Elevation In Egypt Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You set Joseph over all the land of Egypt. He went from prison to second-in-command in one day. That kind of jump would have made many people proud. But Joseph stayed humble. The years of slavery and the unfair time in prison had shaped him. He could handle the new height without it going to his head.

Father, that is a rare thing. To have the skill to do the job and the humility to not let the job change You for the worse. Many people fail at the second part. Joseph did not. The hard place had prepared him.

Train me in the hard, hidden place I am in now. Whatever You may give me later, let me be ready. Build my character first. Then, if You lift me up, let it find me a person who can hold it without being changed for the worse by it.

Amen.
