Joseph In Prison: Cupbearer And Baker Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him. The man forgot for two whole years. Joseph kept working in prison with no promise that anyone would speak his name. Father, I know what it is to be forgotten by the people I have helped. It hurts. Do not let that hurt turn bitter in my heart. You were with Joseph in those two long, quiet years. You were working even when no one remembered. Be with me in my forgotten seasons. If You have a door opening ahead, You will bring it in Your time. Until then, keep me faithful where I am. Let me serve in the low places with a steady hand and a settled heart. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
