Joseph In Egypt Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Genesis 39:2 — the Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master.

Father, the success the world counts and the success You count are not always the same. Joseph was a slave before he was a ruler. You were with him in both places. The hidden work mattered. The quiet faithfulness mattered.

Make me faithful in the season I am in right now. Not the season I wish I were in. Not the season everyone else sees. The one I am actually living. The promotion may come or it may not. Either way, I want to be found faithful where You have placed me.

Be with me in the hidden place. Your presence is the thing. The position can follow Your timing, or it may never come, and either is fine with me.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
