Jesus Foretells His Death Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You told Your disciples You would suffer, die, and rise. Peter had just said You were the Christ, and then he told You no. He thought he knew better than You. Father, I do the same thing. When the hard path comes, I look for another way. I try to talk You out of what You have planned. I even try to save myself from the pain You allow. Forgive me. You did not come to avoid the cross. You came to keep the appointment the Father gave You. Help me stop fighting the path You choose. The road through suffering is sometimes the road You have set for me. And on the other side is resurrection. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
