Bible story

Jacob’s Deception Of Isaac Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Rebekah dressed Jacob in his brother's clothes and put goat hair on his arms. Isaac was old and blind, and the trick worked. The blessing came through a lie, and the family was broken for years. Jacob ran away. Esau cried. Isaac was fooled. Even when Your plan moves forward, the lies people tell still cost them dearly. I do not want to grab what You have promised by trickery or force. Save me from trying to make Your blessings come my way through deception. You gave that blessing to Jacob by Your word, but the lying tore the family apart. Teach me to wait for what You want to give me, and to receive it with honest hands. Bless me Your way, and help me trust Your timing. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
