Jacob Migrates To Egypt Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You told Jacob in Genesis 46:3, Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make of You a great nation. He was old. The journey was long. The land was foreign. The wells and groves he knew would be behind him. You spoke courage into him because the move was right, even though it was hard.

Father, the moves I have been afraid to make have not all been about places. Some have been moved into harder seasons of caregiving. Some have been moved into ministries I did not want to start. Some have been moved into honest talks I have put off for months.

When the move is Yours, give me Jacob's courage. Bless the steps I take at Your word. Be with me in the new place, as You were with him.

Amen.

How to pray it

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
