Jacob And Rachel Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Genesis 29:20 — Jacob worked seven years to marry Rachel, and those years felt like only a few days because he loved her so much. Then he was tricked, and he worked seven more years for her. Father, love changed how Jacob felt about all that work. The work was still hard, but love made it light. I bring You my work today. The chores at home, the duties at the office, the school run, the long list of things that do not end. When my love is thin, the weight feels heavy. You are the one who gives love. Please restore love for the spouse You have given me. Restore love for the children I am raising. Restore love for the people I work with. I am not asking for easy work. I am asking for Your love in the middle of it. When You renew love, even ordinary work feels different. Teach me to see my labour the way Jacob saw his, not as a burden but as something I give because I love. Renew the love, and let the work find its right weight. Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
