High Priestly Prayer Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You prayed the night before the cross — for Yourself, for the disciples, and for all who would believe through them. That includes me. You asked that we all would be one. You were answered at Pentecost, and You are still answering that prayer through Your church today. Hold me in that unity. The same Jesus who prayed for me before I was born is praying for me right now at Your right hand. That prayer was not just for one night. It is still going on. Keep me in Your love. Make me holy by Your truth. Send me into the world the way You sent Jesus. Father, the prayer Your Son prayed for me is still being answered. Answer it more today. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
