Healing At The Beautiful Gate Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Peter once stood at a temple gate with nothing silver or gold to give. All he had was the name of Jesus. He said, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." And the lame man leaped to his feet and went into the temple, walking and leaping and praising You.

That is still what Your church has to give. Not money. Not just advice or sympathy. Your name. Your Spirit. The same power that made a lame man walk.

Make me like Peter and John at the gates I pass through today. The people I meet may be asking for one thing, but the thing they truly need may be You. Give me eyes to see the deeper need. Give me boldness to offer what matters most — the name of Jesus, spoken in faith.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
