Great White Throne Judgment Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Revelation 20:11 — I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it. From His presence earth and sky fled away. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Father, the great white throne is a heavy thing to think about. Every life will be weighed. Every secret will be seen. The books will be opened. Another book — the book of life — will also be opened. And anyone whose name is not found in that book will be cast into the lake of fire.

Make me a person whose name is in the book of life. Not because I earned it, but because You wrote my name there by the grace of Christ. The deeds in the other books cannot save me. Only the name in the book of life saves.

Settle that assurance deep in me. The Christ who sits on the throne is the same Christ who died for me. My Judge is also my Saviour.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
