Good Shepherd Discourse Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You are the good shepherd. You laid down Your life for the sheep. When the wolf comes, You do not run. You stand. You stay. You give everything.

Father, there have been leaders who failed Your people. Some cared more about themselves than about the flock. But that was never You. You are the shepherd whose own life was the price of our safety.

Bless the under-shepherds of Your church today who are still standing when trouble shows up. Make me one of them in whatever place You have put me — in my home, in my classroom, in my church. Let me not run when it costs something to stay.

The sheep know the difference between a hireling and a true shepherd. So do You. Teach me to shepherd the way You do — with love that does not walk away.

Amen.
