Garden Of Eden Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You put the man in the garden to work it and keep it. That was the first calling, not striving but tending. At first, we walked with You face to face, in the cool of the day, without shame. But trust was broken, and we were sent out. Walls went up. Hiding began. The garden is what we lost. Yet the garden still waits ahead, the New Jerusalem with the tree of life, and the longing for it runs deep under all my smaller wants. Walk me toward that garden again. Until then, help me plant little gardens along the way. The marriage, the church, the home, the friendship, these are early gardens, partial and scarred, but real. Let me work and keep them in their season. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
