Fall Of Jericho Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You told Your people to march around a city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, they marched seven times, blew the horns, and shouted. The walls fell down. That plan did not make sense to anyone watching. Father, sometimes You give me an assignment that looks foolish to me and to everyone else. The temptation is to stop when nothing happens on day two or three. The marching feels pointless. Keep me marching when the assignment looks silly. Keep me obedient when I cannot yet see the breakthrough. I do not know when the wall will fall. But I know You are faithful. Help me trust You for all seven days. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.
    Joshua 6:20
