Ezra’s Mission Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Ezra 7:10 — Ezra set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, to do it, and to teach it in Israel. Father, that order matters. Study. Do. Teach. I want to skip straight to talking about Your Word without first living it. But Ezra did not skip. He obeyed it himself before he spoke it to others. God, make me like that. Let me study Your Word. Then do it with my own hands, in my own home, through my own ordinary day. Only then let me speak it to others — with the weight of someone who has lived it. Start the reform in me. Change the inside of me before You send me to do anything else. Form me into an Ezra. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
