Elijah And The Prophets Of Baal Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Elijah once asked Your people how long they would limp between two opinions. That question hits me today. I have been limping too. I say I follow You, but I also chase other things. I give You my Sundays and give my fears and my comfort the rest of the week. I try to serve You and still hold on to what I want. That split life is tearing me apart inside. I do not want to live divided anymore. You are the God who answered with fire on Mount Carmel. You are still that God today. Give me the courage to choose You fully. Help me stop trying to balance two masters and walk straight with You. When You show Yourself faithful, let me be found on Your side. I do not want to limp anymore. I want to walk with You.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
