Death Of Herod Agrippa Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I don’t want to be like the king who took praise meant for You. He let the crowd call him a god—and You struck him down. His pride ate him alive. I feel that same pull when people say kind things, and I forget to point them back to You. It’s so easy to take what belongs to You alone. Strike at my pride before it grows teeth. When praise comes my way, help me turn it toward You—quickly, honestly, truly. Save me from the slow rot of forgetting who You are. You alone deserve the glory. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
