David And Bathsheba Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, 2 Samuel 12:7 — Nathan said to David, "You are the man."

Father, David had done terrible things and could not even see it. He had hidden his sin for months. Then Nathan told a simple story, and the truth broke through.

Father, send me my Nathan. The brother who will tell me what I have hidden from myself. The pastor whose sermon shines a light on my heart without pointing a finger. The friend whose honest question will not let me run away.

I would rather hear the hard truth today than keep hiding tomorrow. Break me on time.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
