Crossing The Red Sea Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You said You would fight for Your people, and they would only need to be still. At the Red Sea, the Israelites were trapped. The water was in front of them. The enemy was behind them. There was no way out. Moses told them to stand firm and watch You fight. Then You opened a road right through the sea. They walked across on dry ground. Father, the trap I am in feels less dramatic than the Red Sea but just as real. My chariots are bills, deadlines, illnesses, and conflicts. The sea in front of me is the situation with no clear way out. You opened a road at the Red Sea by a means nobody could have planned. You can do it again. Open a road for me. While I wait to see it, give me trust. Help me take the next step even when I cannot see the whole path. Send me through. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
