Calling The Disciples Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You called Peter and Andrew at the lake and said, Follow me. They left their nets and went. James and John left the boat and their father. They did not wait. They did not make a plan. They just followed You.
I want to be that quick to follow. Sometimes I slow down the call because I am afraid of what I will have to leave behind. I turn one step into months of thinking. But the first disciples did not have it all figured out. They had You.
Where You are clear, help me move. Where You speak, help me answer without delay. I do not need a finished plan. I need a person to follow. That person is You.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
