Burial Of Jesus Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea had been a quiet follower, afraid to be seen. When You died, he stepped forward. He asked Pilate for Your body. He carried it with care. The bold ones had run, but the quiet one stayed. Some of us are not bold like Peter. We are quiet, hoping no one notices. But there comes a hour when quiet ones must step into the light. Give me that courage. When the moment comes, help me not to hide. Let me do the right thing with care, before the chance is gone. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.
