Building Of The Temple Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, 1 Kings 6:7

Father,

When Solomon built the temple, the stones were cut far away at the quarry. By the time they reached the temple, they fit together quietly. No hammer or axe was heard where the house of God was rising.

That is how You work in me too.

Most of the cutting and shaping happens in the ordinary places where I live and work. You shape me in the quiet, in the hard days, in the parts no one else sees.

Then, when You need a stone for Your church, it can take its place without making a sound.

Cut me at my own quarry. The shaping is the hard work. The fitting will happen later.

You are building Your people together.Let me be a stone that has been prepared, ready to take my place quietly when You call.

Fit me in.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
