Baptism Of Jesus Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You spoke from heaven over Jesus at the Jordan. You said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." The Spirit came down like a dove. The Father spoke. The Son came up from the water. The Spirit was there. All of You were present.
And this word came before Jesus did any miracles. Before the cross. Before any of the work. You loved Him first. He was loved before He was successful.
Form that order in me, Father. Let me know that Your love does not start with what I do. It starts with who You are. Every person who is baptized into Christ steps into this same truth: beloved before achievement, loved before the work begins.
Settle me in that love today. The work I do flows from a love You have already given. I do not work to earn a love I do not yet have. You are well pleased with Your Son, and in Him, You are well pleased with me.
Amen.
