Babylon The Great Falls Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Babylon has fallen. The angel said it in Revelation 18:2. A city that looked too strong to fall came down in one hour. The kings wept. The merchants wept. The sailors wept. Their wealth was their god, and it was gone.
Father, every Babylon falls. The things that look permanent are not. The things that look safe are not. The plans that promise everything are running out of time.
Help me to live here as a temporary resident, not as a citizen. The things I count on today will not last. The job I trust too much can change. The savings I hold too tight can lose their worth. The life I build with my hands will not stand forever.
Keep me a citizen of the city that has foundations. You are the builder and maker of that city. Hebrews 11:10 says it. The new Jerusalem is coming down. That is the city I am traveling toward.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
