Father, an empty chair at a wedding is a sad thing. In Matthew 22, the people who were invited said no. One went to his farm. One went to his work. They were not mean. They were just busy. They chose other things over the king. Lord, that is me some days. Save me from being so busy that I leave Your table empty. When You send the invitation out again to the highways and the side roads, to people no one expected, open my eyes. Let me see the room filling with guests I might have overlooked. Let me come wearing the wedding garment You give. Dress me for Your table, not for the field. The supper is Yours. Being with You is what matters. Amen.
