Parable
Parable Of The Watchful Servants Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord, You told Your servants to stay dressed and keep their lamps lit, because the master could come home at any hour. That is from Luke 12:35. The servants were not worried. They were ready. There is a difference. Worry just stares at the door and gets tired. Readiness keeps doing the work and is glad when the knock comes. Lord, I have let my readiness slip. I have dimmed the lamp and started to live as if You were not coming back. Bring me back to readiness. The work still needs to get done either way. I would rather be caught working than caught dozing. Let me be the one who answers the door with joy because You came. Amen.
