Parable
Parable Of The Persistent Widow’s Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the widow in Luke 18 had no one to help her. She had no power. She had no friends in court. But she kept coming back. She asked again and again. And she did not stop.
You are not like the judge in that story. He only answered because he was tired. You answer because You are good. You hear Your children when we cry to You day and night.
Make me like that widow at Your gate. Give me a heart that never gives up. The cause is Yours. The strength is Yours. I will keep asking. I will keep knocking.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
