Parable Of The Pearl Of Great Price Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Matthew 13, You told about a merchant who knew pearls. He had spent his life looking at fake ones. So when he found the real one, he knew. And he sold everything with a glad heart. He was not shocked by the price. He was ready.

Father, I want to be ready like that.

Train my eyes. I have held fake things and called them real. I have praised busy church work that only looked like love for You. I have chased a false sense of safety. I have followed a false sense of purpose.

Show me the difference between Christ and the things that only look like Him.

When the day comes that following You costs me everything I thought I needed, do not let me hold on to the fakes. Let me trade it all with a glad heart.

Make me ready.

Amen.
