Parable

Parable Of The Lost Sheep Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You are the shepherd who left the ninety-nine and went after the one. The one is not small to You. The one is the point of the day. I confess that the part of me that has wandered does not always want to be found. I have made excuses for why my drift is okay. I have called the far country growth. But here You come, looking for me. Do not let me dodge. Bring me back. And make me the kind of person who is glad when someone else gets carried home, not the kind who resents the search. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
