Parable Of The Lost Coin Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father,

In Luke 15, a woman lit a lamp, took a broom, and moved the furniture to find one lost coin. She did not stop to argue if it mattered. She just swept.

There are corners of my life I have not swept in years. I have decided some dust will never leave. There are people I have written off because finding them would mean lighting a lamp, dragging out the couch, and sitting on the floor in the dust to look for them.

Forgive me for calling my laziness wisdom. The coin mattered to her because it was hers. The wandering matters to You because it is mine.

Help me sweep. Help me be the one swept up. Let me stop hiding under the furniture I crawled under last. When the lost are found and You call the neighbors to celebrate, let me come to the party with a glad heart.

Amen.
