Parable

Parable Of The House On The Rock Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped parable prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, I have built my life fast. I have focused on what shows at the surface. But the difference that lasts is underneath, where no one sees. You said the wise builder digs down to rock. The foolish one builds on sand. Both houses look the same—until the storm comes. And the storm is coming. It comes for every life. Lord, do not let mine fall. Dig down with me. Help me obey Your Word, not just admire it. Let my life be built on what You said and what I do about it. When the rain stops, let me still be standing. Not because I built well on my own, but because I built on You. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
