New Mothers Prayer for December 21st
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, David said near the end of his life that You made an everlasting covenant with him. And that word 'yet' is everything. After his failures, after the running and the returning — yet, You made the covenant. Yet, it stands.
I have my own 'yet' this morning. After the impatience, the dropped routines, the half-prayers prayed and half-prayers forgotten — yet, You made a covenant with me. It is older than my failures and steadier than my best week.
The house is quiet now. My body is tired. But the baby breathed easily against my chest, and that was a gift I did not earn. Help me begin this day standing on Your 'yet.' Not on what I got right. On what You promised.
Amen.
