New Mothers Prayer for December 18th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You told Your people to rend their hearts and not their garments. It is easy to look right on the outside. It is hard to let the inside break. Do not let me just go through the motions this morning. Let me feel real sorrow. Let my sigh mean something. Help me name the bitterness I have been carrying about the friendship that has gone quiet. Help me admit the harshness I have shown my husband. Break the hard crust over my heart. Open it gently, Lord. Receive what is hidden underneath. Amen.
