New Mothers Prayer for December 7th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You chose the weak and small things of the world. That line catches me off guard and holds me steady. I have felt low this week. Not in some deep way. Just plainly low. Not enough. Not impressive. But You did not wait for me to be at my best. You chose me when I was nothing much. And You are glad You did. So here I am in this quiet chair, in this late and ordinary hour. Send me into the morning as someone happily plain, chosen by You. I do not need to be more to be loved by You. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
