New Mothers Prayer for December 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, in Acts 18, You told Paul in Corinth, I have many people in this city. That is good news for me today. You have many people here — the woman in the next pew on Sunday, the friend at the play group I have not really opened up to, the older woman at the library who smiled at the stroller. They are Your people, scattered. Help me look up enough to notice one of them today. The city is fuller of Yours than I think. Let me find one. Let one find me. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
