New Mothers Prayer for November 13th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You taught that the branch cannot bear fruit by itself. It has to stay connected to the vine. That verse used to make me anxious. Today it gives me peace. I am not the one who makes the fruit grow. I am the branch. My part is staying close to You. The fruit comes from that closeness, not from me trying harder. Let me stay close to You this morning. In the rocking chair. In the small prayer. In the quiet, leaning on You. The fruit will come in Your time. I do not have to force it before breakfast. The vine is Yours. The fruit is Yours. The staying is what I bring. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
    John 15:4
