New Mothers Prayer for October 21st
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, Paul wrote that the love of Christ constrains us. Not optional. Not just sometimes. Your love presses me into the next loving act, even when I do not feel like it. The diapers I will change today come from Your love, not my mood. The kindness I will offer my husband tonight comes from Your love, not mine. Let me accept this gentle push. It is kinder than the harsh rules I give myself. The love that constrains me is the same love that carried the cross. It carries this day too. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
