New Mothers Prayer for October 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You promised through Zechariah that at evening time there will be light. Today's afternoon may stay heavy. But You say the evening will be lit. Not always by the bedside lamp. Sometimes by one short word from my husband that cuts through the day. Sometimes, it's the baby's unexpected smile just before bed. Sometimes, by the verse that comes back when I switch off the kitchen light. Let me trust the small evening light. Your promise is gentle, and it is real. You do not wait for the day to get easy before You keep Your word. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
