New Mothers Prayer for October 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Colossians 1, Paul writes about the hope stored up for us in heaven. Stored up like something safe, not spent yet, still growing. Today feels heavy. But the hope is the part that lifts my head. Help me remember once today that my hope does not rest in my circumstances. It is stored up where moth and rust cannot destroy it. The bottle warmer breaks. My hope does not. The dryer breaks. My hope does not. Help me see the difference today. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
