New Mothers Prayer for September 27th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Moses once sang over Your people, “Happy are You, O Israel.” That word happy feels strange in this tired week. He meant something deeper than a good mood. He meant blessed, held, Yours. Help me sit with that truer word. I am blessed. The baby in the next room is a blessing. This roof is a blessing. The fact that I prayed at all this morning is a blessing. Happiness will come and go. Blessedness will not. Hold me up with that steady word while I walk through this wobbly day. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
