New Mothers Prayer for September 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Ezra once told the king that Your hand was on those who seek You. So he was ashamed to ask for soldiers to guard the road. I understand that kind of trust, and I want it too.

I am tempted to want only what I can see and control—a sure plan, a safe choice, a guaranteed result for my baby. But You are with me, not only when the way is safe. You are with me in the ordinary parts of this day—the feeding, the rocking, the quiet walk through the house.

The day is not without danger. The day is also not without You. I do not need to bargain for more proof before I take the next small step. Your hand is on us.

Send me into this morning trusting Your unseen guard more than my own need for guarantees.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him.”
    Ezra 8:22
