New Mothers Prayer for September 23rd
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I walked past the mirror in the hallway and did not recognize my own face. Your Word says I am accepted in Your love. Accepted is the word my chest needed this morning. Not approved on probation. Not loved as a project. Accepted. I have been carrying a worry that I have somehow disqualified myself this season. The short temper. The half-attention in church. The quiet times I missed. But my standing with You has not moved. Your acceptance was given in Christ. It is not held in my performance. Let me take that word into the kitchen and let it loosen one small knot before lunch. Accepted. Already, today, as I am. Amen.
