New Mothers Prayer for September 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, in Mark 1, a man with leprosy came to You. You said, I am willing. Be clean. Those two parts still stop me. You are willing. You make clean. I have been holding back my small requests this week as if I had to convince You. I need sleep. I need this rash to clear. I need help with my husband's job. I need my mind to be quiet. You are not reluctant. You are not annoyed. You are willing. You speak. So let me ask plainly this morning, without arguing my case first. The man with leprosy did not argue. He came. You spoke. Let that be the shape of my small asking today. Amen.

  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
