New Mothers Prayer for July 30th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I have my own quiet failure I keep thinking about this week. The way I spoke to my husband. The friend I have not called back. Like Peter, I remember what I did wrong, and it hurts. Let me weep over it for as long as is honest, and then stop. You do not lecture me into change. You return me. Return me to the next ordinary task — the bottle, the laundry, the baby's bath — without the weight of yesterday still pressing down on this room. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
